AYA-NEO handheld gaming PC first public appearance at the Shanghai WePlay gaming exhibition.

During the two days of the WEPLAY Expo, the AYA has been tested by hundreds of players. Most of the them were quite satisfied with the performance: The screen quality was stunning, the grip exceeded expectations, and a few passing experienced PC & console gamers were more than pleasantly surprised.

The five test machines took turns running at full load throughout the day with strong heat dissipation. Basically, no excess temperature at the grip, the hottest part (at the back) is where the SSD is and the top of the cooling fins are about 40 degrees Celsius. The normal grip position cannot feel hot. Gamers said that the heat dissipation of AYA was better than some gaming phones.

The test games with stable frame rates were…

Assassin's Creed Hall of Valor - 25-40 fps

Watchdogs - 25-40 fps

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - 40-50 fps.

Devil May Cry 5 - 60-70 fps

World of Warcraft Retro & Official - 35-50 fps

Death Stranding--30-45 fps

Other games played on the AYA were PES 2021, The Witcher 3, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Overwatch, Diablo, and others.

Some of the biggest names from various game studios came to the booth to test and approve: Weplay Expo , CiGA (China indie Game Alliance, the largest independent game league organization in China), Ultra Console Game (It is currently the only magazine in mainland China that focuses on consoles and games), Studio Surgical Scalpels, 8BitDo, and others . And we will follow up with evaluations and events. The hardware gurus also commented that AYA was well integrated, and the cooling system exceeded the performance.

TYPE-C full-featured interface works properly which can be connected simultaneously to the keyboard, mouse, handle, Bluetooth speaker, external display, and direct power supply stability. The keyboard of the test machine at the show are 3D nylon printing + painting; the touch was not too good, but the mold keys are PC mirror-smooth which gives some peace of mind.

Someone brought up the issue of the frame rate dropping to 7 fps while playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It turned out that when the player tried to play the game, he as running other games in the background; everything was fine after closing them.

After returning to Shenzhen on Monday, the engineering team started a new round of optimizations for the AYA: replacing keys with the latest snap dome and optimizing the mute effect. So far, everything is very satisfactory.

The AYA testers will be sent out to the media this week, the delay is in preparation for the Weplay Expo and for testing by solution providers and will be sent out as soon as the new button samples arrive. At the expo Uncle A also collected suggestions from gamers and will optimize as much as possible for the production version. This week we will be recording endurance measurements and thermal records. The design team is going to be working hard for the limited edition and peripheral designs, so there may be fewer game trials. Please be patient and thank you very much for your support!
